Bascha Mika, born in 1954, studied German literature, philosophy and ethnology. She has worked as an editor and journalist and published a critical biography of Alice Schwarzer which caused quite a stir. Between 1999 and 2009, she was the editor-in-chief of the daily taz. She is now an honorary professor at the University of Art in Berlin and a freelance journalist.
