Hans Neuenfels is one of the great German theatre and opera directors of our day. He was born in 1941 and trained as an actor and director at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. By the age of 28, Hans Neuenfels had already staged 30 works and gathered a steady group of actors around him.

He has not only been involved in theatre work but has also made films about Heinrich von Kleist, Robert Musil, Jean Genet and August Strindberg. He has been directing opera since 1974 and staged 30 operas at important German opera houses.
