The garden in Landsdorf is an insider’s tip. The author describes in detail how the former estate garden attained its present-day beauty after decades of neglect. In designing it, the couple Angela and Dr. Gerd Schäfer drew upon over thirty years of gardening experience. From magnificent herbacious borders to sublime shade plantings, from a richly varied kitchen garden to a formal rose garden: the expert gardeners drew upon horticultural beauties they had long worked with. Of particular importance to them was preserving the botanically interesting population of trees, and to enhance it in many places with a successful interplay of bulbs, perennials, and shrubs.
