Anika Beer was born in 1983. The world of fantasy stories has been with her since her early childhood – she learned to read when she was three, and when, at the age of eight, she was given her first typewriter, she started writing stories. Anika Beer is keen on martial arts and foreign cultures, and after taking her Abitur, lived for a while in Spain before accepting a place at Bielefeld University. "When the Black Fairies Came" is her first young-adult novel.
