Sandro Gaycken was born in 1973 and is involved in technology and security research at the Free University in Berlin. The main focus of his research is on cyber war, cyber security, data protection and how information technology affects society. In addition, he advises companies as well as various civil and military institutions at home and abroad. He is on a number of both national and EU boards and is also frequently consulted by the media as an expert on matters pertaining to "cyber warfare".
